New Hampshire Home

before

I use to think that decorating meant the walls had to be covered with pictures and paintings, every shelf filled with books and nic nacs. I also thought the walls should be painted bright bold colors in order for it to be fun. Turns out that is not the case. Don’t get me wrong I love bright colors and fun nic nacs but you have to find a balance. Decorating our home for me as been a way of me finding myself and what I really like.

Well it has taken me 3 houses in 7 years to realize what I really like and feel comfortable in. For me that is a room that is simple, spacious, and organized. Of course I can’t expect that in every room with 4 kids who think the words “Please don’t make a mess” mean “DESTROY”!

This is a picture of our front room fireplace. I have been trying to decide how to decorate this space. I knew it needed some color (I plan on painting the walls white) so, in this room I want the decor to be bold. I have picked black, navy blue, and dark green. I think it will go well with the white walls and wood trim. So, piece by piece I will be putting this room together

after

This is what I have come up with so far. After looking at pinterest and getting so many ideas, I think I like this one the best. I have a big round mirror that I got from my Grandma Andrus’s house after she past away that is so great and will be replacing the “N” sign with the mirror. I tried to find some taller green leaf plants but the closes thing I have to a hobby shop is Walmart. Hobby Lobby is an hour away!!! (How will I live?!?!?!?!) The lanterns are from Walmart as well and only $12 for the bigger size. I thinkI might get the same ones for another project I have in mind for the TV room.

It’s simple, cute, and clean.
